Meet the Team

Fozia Parveen, Signs4Life Founding & Managing Director

Fozia works as an optometrist whilst studying towards qualifying as a BSL interpreter. She has taught BSL level one and delivers courses in deaf and visual impairment awareness in addition to Makaton training. Fozia enjoys going to the theatre, spending time with her family, travelling, meeting new people and picking up new tongues currently Arabic and German.



Chris Gould

I qualified as a teacher in 2008 at Bedford University. I've been teaching sign language for over 20 years at all levels. I have developed bespoke training courses for various companies such as Virgin Atlantic, local councils and NHS. I Am Deaf. I also teach deaf awareness, disability discrimination act, and sensory skills for care workers; a course I wrote and developed through the open college network. I am also a qualified welfare officer, and teach BSL linguistics in Bristol, Deafblind communication, Level 3 BSL and signing from birth.


Janet Huntingdon

I have been teaching for 17 years, my work ranging from teaching life skills for Deaf clients with challenging behaviour to courses in Deaf Awareness, basic Sign Language and BSL levels 1 & 2 for people from all walks of life in a variety of settings. I feel able to contribute to helping ALL to gain a better understanding of D/deaf people's communication needs, being born profoundly Deaf myself. I achieved my Certificate of Education in 2003. I like teaching, reading and my gorgeous grand-daughter.


Jenny Mayflower

I work as an equality, diversity and disability consultant. I have been involved in this work for over 20 years. I enjoy reading and watch films. When the weather is nice, I enjoy spending a lot of time with gardening also I like to visit interesting places and old building. I enjoy having a meal with my family to catch up our news.


David Strang

I have been specialising in learning disabilities and mental health for over 15 years. I get a lot of job satisfaction from the work that I do and the difference that it makes. I work as a Training and Development officer. I enjoy photographing, travelling, camping, doing garden, cooking and meeting new faces.
